WhatsApp blue tick verification in India: how a business gets the verified badge, and what it does not do
The green tick became the blue verified badge in 2024. Free on the WhatsApp Business Platform, part of the Meta Verified subscription on the app. What Meta looks for — verification, a matching name, a public footprint — how to apply, and why it does not raise your messaging limit.
The verified badge on WhatsApp — the green tick that turned blue in 2024 — marks an Official Business Account that Meta has reviewed. On the WhatsApp Business Platform the application is free and goes through your provider; on the WhatsApp Business app it is part of the paid Meta Verified subscription. You need a verified Business portfolio, a display name that matches your brand, and some public presence Meta can find.

What the badge is, and what it is not
The badge next to a business's name means Meta has confirmed the account belongs to the business it says it does. It changed colour from green to blue in 2024 to match Facebook and Instagram; anyone who had a green tick kept it, now blue. It is a trust mark, not a feature: it does not raise your messaging limit, lower your per-message price or change what you can send. What it does is show your business name instead of your phone number in the customer's chat list, and reassure a customer that the number messaging them about their order is the real one.

What Meta looks for on the Platform route
- Business verification done. The portfolio has a document on file and Meta has approved it. This is the gate; nothing else is considered before it.
- A display name that matches. The name on the WhatsApp account, the Facebook Page, the website and the registration should be one name.
- Some public footprint. Meta's guidance is "notable": a website, a Google Business listing, coverage or listings on third-party sites, an active Facebook or Instagram presence. A brand new business with no web presence is usually declined and can reapply.
- Activity on the number. An account that has sent messages, has templates approved and has a green quality rating reads as a real business.
- Two-step verification switched on for the number.
How to apply
- In WhatsApp Manager (business.facebook.com › WhatsApp Manager › the number), open the number's settings and choose Official Business Account › Submit request.
- Fill in the legal name, the display name, the website, and links that show the business exists — the Google listing, press, directories.
- Submit and wait. Meta answers in a few days to a few weeks. A decline names no reason; the usual ones are the ones above, and you can reapply after fixing them.
Where Linkubit fits
Linkubit does not apply on your behalf — the application is yours, inside your own Meta account, and a provider that claims to "get you the tick" is filling in the same form. What Linkubit does is keep your number healthy — templates that pass review, consent enforced on every send, a STOP that always works — which is what keeps the quality rating green and the application credible.
Is the WhatsApp blue tick free?
On the WhatsApp Business Platform, yes — the Official Business Account application costs nothing. On the WhatsApp Business app it comes with the Meta Verified subscription, which is paid.
Is the verified badge the same as the blue tick?
Yes. The verified badge, the verified tick, the blue tick and the old green tick are one mark: Meta's confirmation that the account belongs to the business it names. It turned from green to blue in 2024; the route to it is the same.
How long does WhatsApp blue tick verification take?
Business verification of the portfolio usually takes a few working days; the Official Business Account review after it takes a few days to a few weeks. Neither can be sped up by a provider.
Does the badge increase my messaging limit?
No. Limits move on business verification, sending volume and quality rating. The badge changes how your name appears, not what you can send.
What if my application is declined?
Fix the likely cause — verification, name mismatch, no public presence — and reapply. There is no limit on attempts, and a decline does not affect the account.
