Conversions API (offline conversions)

Definition

The Conversions API is how a business tells Meta what happened after the click — a lead was qualified, a deal was won — from its own systems rather than a browser pixel. Google's equivalent is the Data Manager API. Reported outcomes let the ad platform optimise for customers, not clicks.

What to send

The events that mean money: a lead that passed qualification, an opportunity that closed. Meta accepts them within seven days of the click; Google within ninety. Each event carries the click ID or the lead ID so the platform can match it to the ad.

Why it matters

An ad set optimised for 'leads' learns to find people who submit forms. One optimised for 'qualified leads' learns to find people who buy. The difference over a few weeks is the whole return on the spend.
