How to make a UPI QR code in 3 steps
- Type your UPI ID — the one in your UPI app, like yourshop@okhdfcbank — and the payee name on the bank account, which the customer sees before paying.
- Add the amount for one order, or leave it empty for a counter QR the customer types the amount into. An order note ("Order 1042") shows in the payment details on both sides, so matching payments is easier.
- Press Download PNG and copy the message. Nothing is stored; the code is made in your browser.
Sending it on WhatsApp
WhatsApp does not open upi:// payment links from inside a chat, so a link alone does nothing for the customer. Send the message the tool writes — who to pay, how much, the UPI ID — with the QR image attached. On the same phone, the customer opens their UPI app, chooses to scan from the gallery, and picks the image; or pays straight to the UPI ID.
When a QR stops being enough
- You can't tell who paid. A QR leaves you matching bank credits to chats by hand. A payment link from your Razorpay account, or WhatsApp's in-chat payment card, reports each payment back against the order.

How do I create a UPI QR code for my business?
Type your UPI ID and the payee name, add an amount if it is for one order, and download the QR. Any UPI app — Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or a bank's app — can scan it.
Can I send a UPI payment link on WhatsApp?
You can send it, but WhatsApp does not open upi:// links from a chat. Send the QR image and the UPI ID instead; the customer scans the image from their gallery in any UPI app. For a tappable link, use a payment link from a gateway such as Razorpay.
Is a UPI QR code with a fixed amount safe?
Yes — it only lets the customer pay you the amount shown; they still approve it in their UPI app with their PIN. Never ask a customer to scan a QR to receive money: receiving never needs a scan or a PIN.
Is there a fee for receiving UPI payments?
UPI payments from a bank account to a merchant carry no merchant fee in India. Payment gateways charge for links, cards and other methods; check your gateway's rate card.
