WhatsApp QR code generator: a code that opens a chat with your number
A QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat with your business number, with a pre-filled first message if you want one. Download as PNG for print or SVG for a designer. Free, made in your browser.
A WhatsApp QR code is just a click-to-chat link drawn as a code: scanning it opens a chat with your number, with a first message already typed if you set one. Type the number, download the PNG for a shop board, a bill, a menu or a van, or the SVG for a designer. It never expires and nothing about it is stored here.

Print it at least 2 cm wide and leave a white margin around it; the code carries error correction, so a scuff or a fold still scans. Put a line under it saying what happens (“Scan to order on WhatsApp”) — people scan a code they understand. The same link works as text: the link generator gives it to you for a website or a bio. What the reply costs once it arrives is on the pricing guide.

How to make a WhatsApp QR code in 3 steps
- Type the number with its country code and no plus sign — 91 and ten digits for India — and, if you want, the first message the customer should send.
- Check the preview on your own phone: point the camera at the screen; WhatsApp should open with the number and message filled in.
- Download PNG for print or SVG for a designer. The code is drawn in your browser and nothing is stored.
Where a WhatsApp QR code works
- The shop counter and the door — a customer with a question scans instead of asking for a number.
- Packaging and delivery slips — a D2C order that arrives with a code for support or reorders.
- Flyers, hoardings, newspaper ads — the one place a link cannot be tapped.
- Business cards and invoices — the reply comes in on WhatsApp, on the number your team answers.
- Vehicles, stands and exhibition banners — print large; the code below scales without blurring.
- Restaurant tables — with a pre-filled "I'd like to order" the chat starts where the menu is.
Print size and contrast
A QR code needs a quiet border of white around it (the download includes one), dark modules on a light background, and about a centimetre of width for every metre of scanning distance: 3 cm on a card, 10 cm on a poster, 30 cm on a hoarding. Keep the pre-filled message short — a longer message is a denser code, which is harder to scan on print. Use the SVG for anything a printer will scale.
What happens after the scan
The phone opens WhatsApp with the number and message ready; the customer presses send, and a 24-hour window opens in which your replies are free-form — the window explained. On the WhatsApp Business API a shared inbox or an AI salesperson answers the scan in the first minute; the link generator makes the same chat reachable by tap.
How do I create a QR code for my WhatsApp number?
Enter the number with its country code (91 and ten digits for India) and an optional first message; the code appears and downloads as PNG or SVG. It is a wa.me link drawn as a QR code.
Is the WhatsApp QR code generator free?
Yes, with no sign-up. The code is generated in your browser and nothing is stored.
Does a WhatsApp QR code expire?
No. It encodes a wa.me link to your number; it works for as long as the number is on WhatsApp.
Can a WhatsApp QR code include a message?
Yes. Add the first message and it is written into the chat when the code is scanned; the customer sends it. Keep it short — a long message makes a denser code.
PNG or SVG — which should I download?
PNG for anything you print yourself or upload; SVG for a designer or a large print, because it scales to any size without blurring.
What is the difference between this and the QR code in the WhatsApp Business app?
The app's QR code opens a chat with your number too, and is made on the phone. This one lets you add a pre-filled message, download an SVG, and works for a number on the WhatsApp Business API, which the app cannot make.
How big should a WhatsApp QR code be printed?
About a centimetre of width per metre of scanning distance: 3 cm on a business card, 10 cm on a poster, 30 cm or more on a hoarding, with a white margin around it.
Can I put a WhatsApp QR code on product packaging?
Yes — it is the most common use. Pre-fill the message with the product or order context ("Reorder", "Support for my order") so the chat starts on the right subject.
Does the QR code work for WhatsApp Business API numbers?
Yes. The code is a wa.me link, which opens a chat with any WhatsApp number, including one on the API where software or an assistant can answer.
Can I track how many people scanned the code?
Not from the code itself. Count the pre-filled messages that arrive — give each placement a slightly different first message and the inbox tells you which one was scanned.
Does the customer pay to message me after scanning?
No. Their message is free, and it opens a 24-hour window for your replies.
Can I use the same QR code in India and abroad?
Yes. The number carries its country code, so the code works from any phone with WhatsApp.
