Interactive message (buttons and lists)

Definition

An interactive message is a WhatsApp message with buttons the customer taps instead of typing: up to three reply buttons, or a list of up to ten options behind one button. Sent inside the 24-hour window as a free-form message; a tap comes back as a normal reply.

Two shapes

  • Reply buttons: three at most, each a short label. Right for yes/no, pick-a-slot, confirm.
  • List message: one button opens a list of up to ten rows with a title and a description each. Right for a menu, a set of sizes, a set of services.

When to use them

When the answer is one of a few things. A question with an open answer ('what are you looking for?') is better asked as text; buttons there narrow what the customer tells you.
