Catalog message (product message)

Definition

A catalog message shows products from a business's WhatsApp catalogue inside the chat — one product, or up to thirty in sections — with a name, a price, a picture and a button to add to a cart. The catalogue is set up in Commerce Manager and linked to the WhatsApp number.

Where the catalogue lives

In Meta's Commerce Manager, attached to the business portfolio and then to the WhatsApp account. Prices and stock are edited there; the message reads the current values.

Catalogue versus a picture

A tool can also send a product as an ordinary image with a caption, from its own catalogue, without Commerce Manager. Which one fits depends on whether you want the customer to build a WhatsApp cart or to talk to a salesperson.
