Pipeline (deals and opportunities)

Definition

A pipeline is the list of deals in progress, each with a value, a stage and an owner, usually shown as columns on a board. A deal (or opportunity) is a customer's specific intent to buy something: the products they asked about, at the catalogue price, moving from first contact to paid.

Where the value comes from

From the catalogue, not from the chat. A customer who says 'around five thousand' has given a hint, not a price; the deal is priced from what the products cost and the hint is kept beside it. Forecasts read the price, not the hint.

Closing

A deal closes when the money lands — the payment webhook, not a checkbox — and the revenue is written once, with the ad and the channel it came from, for attribution.
