Speed to lead

Definition

Speed to lead is the time between a customer's first message and the business's first real reply. Under a minute, the customer is still in the conversation; after an hour, they have usually asked somebody else. It is the single number that most changes how many enquiries become sales.

Why the first minute

A person who writes to five businesses buys from the one who answers. Not the cheapest, not the best — the one who was there. On WhatsApp the expectation is set by friends who reply in seconds.

Answering versus acknowledging

'Thanks, we'll get back to you' is not an answer and does not hold the customer. A real reply asks the next question or gives the price. That is the bar an automatic reply has to clear, and the reason a chatbot menu does not clear it.
