In your Meta Business Portfolio: Settings → Users → System users → add a system user, assign it the WhatsApp Business Account and the app, and generate a token with the whatsapp_business_messaging and whatsapp_business_management permissions. A system user token does not expire and is what production software uses; the temporary token in the developer console lasts 24 hours and is for testing.
If you connect through a provider, Embedded Signup exchanges a code for the token on your behalf and stores it — you never see or handle it. Keep any token you do generate out of code and out of chat.
