Business Verification

Definition

Business Verification is Meta checking that a business is real: legal name, address, phone or website, matched against a document such as a GST certificate or a certificate of incorporation. Without it a WhatsApp number is capped at 250 new conversations a day and the display name stays unverified.

What it unlocks

  • The messaging limit rises from 250 to 1,000 new customers a day, then 10,000 and 100,000 as quality holds.
  • Your display name shows without the 'unverified' caveat.
  • Some Meta features — the in-chat payment card in India among them — require it.

What to submit

The document has to name the business exactly as the portfolio does, with a matching address or phone. A mismatch is the usual reason for a rejection; fix the portfolio's details first, then resubmit.

Not the green tick

Verification is about the business; the green tick (Official Business Account) is a separate, discretionary badge for notable brands. Most verified businesses never get the tick and never need it.
