AI sales agent (vs chatbot)

Definition

An AI sales agent reads a customer's message and answers it — in their language, from the business's own knowledge and catalogue — then asks the qualifying questions, writes the answers onto the lead and moves it forward. A chatbot walks a customer through a menu somebody drew; an agent has the conversation.

The difference in one turn

A customer writes 'do you have the 40-rack model and what does it cost, delivery to Pune?'. A chatbot offers 'Press 1 for products'. An agent answers the model, quotes the catalogue price, asks when they need it, and opens the deal.

What keeps it honest

Rules enforced in code, not in the prompt: a price it states must be one it read from the catalogue this turn; a discount must be one a rule allows; a topic on the list goes to a person. An agent without those is a chatbot with better grammar.
