Meta Business Verification for WhatsApp: documents and steps (India)
How to verify your business with Meta in Security Centre, which documents an Indian business can use, why it gets rejected, and what it unlocks.
In Meta Business Suite open Security Centre and choose Start verification (you need full control of the business portfolio). Enter your legal name, address, phone and an HTTPS website exactly as on your documents, upload proof if Meta can't find a record, and confirm by email, phone or domain. Meta decides within 14 working days. Verifying raises your WhatsApp limit to 2,000 a day.
Why verify
Verification is the quickest way to raise your WhatsApp messaging limit from 250 to 2,000 people a day, and the display-name review waits for it. It is not the blue tick — that is a separate badge (see WhatsApp blue tick verification).
Steps
- Open Security Centre in Meta Business Suite. If you can't open it, you don't have full control of the business portfolio — ask whoever does.
- Choose Start verification. ("Ineligible for verification" means Meta doesn't offer it to this portfolio yet — WhatsApp still works, at the 250 limit.)
- Enter the legal business name, address, phone number and website exactly as they appear on your registration documents. The website must load and use HTTPS.
- If Meta finds no matching public record, choose My business isn't listed and upload documents.
- Confirm you are connected to the business: by email (an address on your website's domain is best), phone, text, WhatsApp message, or domain verification (a meta tag or DNS record).
- Wait for the decision — up to 14 working days — and watch its status in Security Centre.
Documents an Indian business can use
Meta accepts, in general: a certificate or articles of incorporation, a business registration or licence, a government-issued business tax document, a business bank statement, and — for the address and phone only, never the name — a utility bill. Documents must be current; English and Hindi are accepted. (Meta's list)
- GST registration certificate — a government business tax document; the most common choice.
- Certificate of incorporation — for a company or LLP.
- Udyam (MSME) registration or a Shop & Establishment certificate — a business registration.
- Business bank statement — in the business's name.
The name must match letter for letter
The most common rejection is a legal name that differs from the documents — "Sharma Traders" on the form, "SHARMA TRADERS PVT LTD" on the GST certificate. Copy the name from the document. Editing business details later means verifying again.
If it's rejected
Meta rejects for false or mismatched details, a website that doesn't load or isn't HTTPS, or claiming a business you can't represent. You may be able to appeal from Security Centre. (Meta: verification)
